Mar 2014 News
We are working hard to improve services in your local area. We will be working on the old water mains pipes to ensure we provide our customers with clear, fresh drinking water and reduce the chance of pipes bursting.
The work will be carried out on a total of 800 metres of existing cast-iron water mains on:
Barrochan Road (B789) in Johnstone, near the roundabout at its junction with Bridge of Weir Road.
Cochranemill Road, Johnstone, from its junction with Millikenpark Road to its junction with Kilbarchan Road.
Darluith Road in Linwood, from its junction with Barrochan Road to its first junction with Gilmartin Road.
During each stretch of work, the road will be reduced from two lanes to one, with temporary traffic lights controlling single-file traffic apart from in Cochranemill Road, where there will be no lane closure but traffic lights will be in operation.
A section of the south-bound carriageway on the B789 Barrochan Road in Johnstone will be closed from the roundabout at the junction of Bridge of Weir Road to facilitate the mains re-lining works.
A small section of Gilmartin Road in Linwood, near its junction with Darluith Road, will be closed for five days.
The work, which is due to start on about March 17 and continue for about nine weeks, will be carried out for Scottish Water by contractors George Leslie.
The road traffic management at each location is expected to be in place for about three to five weeks.
The improvement work will involve the installation of a plastic lining inside the water mains. Stretches of the plastic lining will be installed by spraying a plastic membrane inside the pipes after the mains have been cleaned.
If you have any questions regarding this project or if I can be of any assistance to you and the council please do not hesitate to contact the Contact Centre on 0845 601885 or Mark.Maclaren@scottishwater.co.uk
